What is Acupuncture?
Acupuncture is the oldest continuously practiced medical system in the world, originating in China over 3,000 years ago. This healing art is the primary source of healthcare for approximately one third of the world’s population. Traditional Acupuncture focuses on optimum health, balance, vitality, longevity, and maximizing life quality.
It works by harmonizing Qi (pronounced “Chee”), which is most closely translated as “vital energy”, or “life-force.” Qi moves in pathways called “meridians” throughout the body. When Qi is flowing smoothly, there is wellness, balance, and harmony. Everyday stresses, as well as major life events and injuries, can disrupt this harmonious movement. These can compile over time to create blocks of energy, allowing for symptoms and disease. Acupuncture treats the underlying imbalance rather than just the symptoms.
